New to this bloggity blog stuff

For all of you out there that might do this kind of stuff all the time this whole blog stuff is new to me. Surprising, I realize, me being a hip and up to date 90's kind of guy. In all actuality the only reason I am doing this is for my little sister since she set this whole deal up, so I can show her that I appreciate her time setting it up. And so I can talk smack since right now might be the first time in my life I might be able to take her in some athletic type event. So this is for you Natalie. When you're training just think how you'll feel when your older brother who has to take a handful of chondroitin, omega 3, vitamins, anti-inflammatory and ginko biloba every day is 1/2 a mile ahead of you at the 12.5 mile mark on March 2, 2008. Not to mention the fact that I have to ice everything south of my thighs every night. I will try to keep updating on a daily basis. After reading my sisters posts evidently it is harder to run in Ohio than it is in Kansas.

Off Day

Today is an off day and I need it. My legs are sore from running and lifting. I guess I have not been pushing myself as hard as I thought I was...oops. I am going to do the elliptical or something for 45 minutes today, as well as swimming with Naomi (not sure if that counts).

Here is a link to Jamie's marathon photos- they are awesome, it really gets me excited to do this!
Way to go bro!

Monday run

I did 2 miles today and it felt really good, it is a far cry from 13. I ran at a 9:30 pace and if I want to participate at Jamie's level I better do better than that! I also lifted legs afterward and boy were they tired! Anyway, I added the link to the marathon on the right hand side of the blog.
Oh, also in reviewing the course I guess there are some hills to contend with, so I better start training somewhere where there are more hills...

I am really excited about doing this with Jamie and doing it for myself. I don't even like to run, but I like how I feel when I am done and all red-faced! Now, our master plan is to get Trent and Sean to join us for another one...then maybe mom and dad could walk one also. We will make it a family affair!

It's official

Well, it is official Jamie and I are going to run a half marathon together in Little Rock, Arkansas. Date is March 2nd, and I have been instructed to run an 8 minute mile at least...I am going to try my hardest. Jamie has already ran one last weekend in Kansas City, so this will be his second. I will look to him for some sound advice, and ribbing of course! I have already trained 2 days this week, 3 miles on Friday and 4 on Saturday. I am following the schedule religiously as I figure this will get me in the best running shape since it is created by runners. Here we come Arkansas!

I hope Jamie doesn't slow me down... hence the title sibling rivalry...
